/Cozy/; giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation.
What a beautiful definition of the word cozy! I don’t know about you, but I want my home to be comfortable, warm, and relaxing!
This definition got me thinking and wondering what it is that makes a home cozy. What is it when I walk through the door or sit down in the evening that makes me feel relaxed, comfortable, and warm?
Creating a space that is cozy is high priority for me this fall. My husband and I always want people to feel comfortable coming into our small apartment and feel like it is a place where they can relax. I have been determined to find ways to make our home cozy for the past few days. I wanted to share with you guys some of the things I have been doing in order to create a cozy home for ourselves and our friends as this cooler weather is approaching.
Top Five Things To Make Your Home Cozy This Fall:
If you haven’t checked out my Instagram yet then you should! Just search “welcometothewilliams”. I have been on a baking craze and I love it. You can follow along on my Instgram stories to see what I’ve been baking! Now that the house stays cool all day long, I have no issue warming it up with the oven. This week I have made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and two different kinds of banana bread! The smell and warmth that comes from the oven is perfect for making it feel cozy!
I think it’s safe to say that we all love snuggling up on the couch with our favorite blanket, I know I do! But it’s a pain to have to pull them out of the ottoman that is covered in decorations and hot chocolate/coffee mugs…so how can we display them and still make it look cute? I highly suggest one of these blanket baskets! I absolutely love mine and it is the perfect way for me to display the cute blankets, but also be able to pull one out when I need it!
Whether you are in to candles or your essential oils, it is the perfect way to make your home feel cozy. Dim the lights, light those candles, and relax to sweet smell of pumpkin spice. This is sure to help you relax and give you that sense of warmth in your home.
Many houses are not built with carpet anymore and apartment carpets are now being replaced with wood. Which is good for many reasons, but it can make your home feel cold and wintery instead of cozy and fally! We have a big shag rug for our living room that we love to snuggle up on with all our blankets and pillows for movie nights. Be sure to create a cozy space either with a rug or if you already have carpet then just grab some of those blankets and pillows around for impromptu movie nights!
Yes put those decorations up! (I need to tell myself that because I still have yet to do this.) Adding a little fall decor to your house or apartment is sure to bring in all the cozy feels. I love the smell and look of the cinnamon scented pinecones! I know it isn’t October yet, but get some cute small pumpkins from Trader Joe’s to bring a little fall into your home. My Trader Joe’s has yet to get the small pumpkins that I want which is why my decorating hasn’t happened yet, but as soon as I get my hands on some of those mini pumpkins, you can bet my whole apartment will be in complete fall mode.
These tips are sure to get your home feeling cozy for fall in no time. Nothing beats a day filled with blanket snuggles while we munch on freshly baked goodies in the candlelight!
