Valentine’s Day Party

Party planning is one of my absolute favorite things. I love picking out a theme, finding decorations, and cooking! When my husband and I were looking for an apartment to move into, one of the biggest things we looked for was if we could entertain or not.

Although our apartment is small, we have an open space in the living room that can hold all our friends and the kitchen opens up into the living room which allows me to be a part of the party while finishing things up in the kitchen.

If you are in need of some Valentine’s day party inspiration look no further. We had a great time decorating cookies and ended the evening playing games while listening to music.

I started by making the cookies a day in advance so I wouldn’t have to worry about the mess the day of. I used this recipe and they turned out great. Most sugar cookies called for the dough to be refrigerated for a few hours and I didn’t really want to wait that long… So that recipe was perfect!

I made about 48 cookies and made them all different sizes.

I didn’t have cookie cutters so they were all round, but our friends ended up cutting them into fun designs like this one. I made this frosting recipe and my friend supplies a ton of fun sprinkles!

The day of the party I ran a few errands to get what I needed for the party. Flowers were something I knew I wanted for the party, but I also didn’t want to spend a lot of money on them. So I headed to Trader Joe’s to see what they had. I ended up finding two beautiful bouquets for just $4 dollars each!

I also found that cute “Happy Valentines Day” sign in the $1-$5 section at Target. The hearts I picked up at the Dollar Store. I also grabbed some plates and heart balloons from the Dollar Store as well. Like I mentioned earlier, I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on one party, but I was able to find some decor for cheap to make it look fun!

Since our table is so small, I just pulled our desk out and put it against the table with a tablecloth to make more room for everyone.

Since all of our friends who were coming are in our community group at church I decided to have a little fun with the letter board.

Here is a couple more details from our living room and dining room. Like I mentioned, we don’t have a ton of space, but I was able to work with it!

I thought I made way too many cookies, but we ended up only having one left! I did go overboard on the frosting though and I now have a huge container of it left in my fridge.

I had such a great time setting up for this party and it wasn’t just because it was a whole bunch of pink…Okay maybe it was! Overall it was low cost and turned out just how I wanted it. Plus I get to leave this fun decor up all week (okay maybe month…) long!

So if you love to entertain, but have a small space then don’t be discouraged! You can make it work and make it look good! Even with Dollar Store decorations.
